Yes that's right, your favorite Cornell Red-colored harbor railroad will be one of the many great featured talks at this years Valley Forge Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet in Malvern, PA on the weekend of March 23-25.
I will be doing a talk about how I model seven railroad interchanges in only 4 feet (give or take). with carfloats and active staging. I'll discuss the prototype, the model and how we model those operations during a op session (and of course all the paperwork that goes along with it!) Did I mention there will be giveaways?
I'll be just ONE of a few rail-marine themed presentations, so make sure to clear your calendars now in order to attend.....You can find out more by visiting their web page at -

Sanborn maps are not a definitive guide to prototype track alignment. Valuation maps are a better tool to use in planning. Even then, some tracks were altered over time and may not reflect a later modification.
Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps were created to document structures in case of calamity. Sanborn maps are great tools to use in understanding the relationship of structures and right-of-ways in an overall scene. Railroad track location is approximate in many instances. Later Sanborn updates often have fewer track references.
Your work is progressing very well. If an extra track or turnout makes more sense to operate the area, then it should be added. We often hack away at the length of rail spurs and sidings to make it all fit our small areas.
